OKLAHOMA CITY -- Should liquor stores be allowed to sell alcohol on election days? It's a question Oklahomans could soon answer at the polls. The state House recently approved a bill that would put the issue on a statewide ballot. Current law bans liquor sales on all election days until the polls close at 7 p.m.Oklahoma is one of only seven states with similar bans.
Rep. Kevin Calvey, R-Del City, wrote the bill that would change the law. He said the current ban is a relic from the days of the Wild West, when candidates and their supporters would pack local saloons.
