Woman Says Ouija Board Made Her Kill
Elvaker Arrested Following Crash
According to police, Carol Elvaker was playing with a Ouija board with her daughter and grandchildren when the board allegedly told her that Brian Roach, her son-in-law, had to die.
"The grandmother says that God talked to her through this Ouija board," Grady County Assistant District Attorney Bret Burns said. "She says that God told her that the son-in-law was evil, and also that the 10-year-old child was evil, and had to die."
Elvaker then allegedly stabbed Roach in the chest with a knife from the kitchen.
"He's crying for help, asking his wife to help him," Burns said. "His wife came out of the bedroom, and the grandmother then told his wife to go back to sleep."
The wife, Tammy Roach, is accused of doing just that, and ignoring her husband's pleas for help.
Next, Elvaker and Roach drove north away from the scene, taking the Roachs' two children with them.
"She kept telling her daughter that the 10-year-old had to die, because the 10-year-old was evil," Burns said.
The drive continued to the Turner Turnpike where, authorities claim, Elvaker tried to kill them by crashing the car.
When no one was seriously injured in the accident, Elvaker ran away on foot, Kym Koch of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said.
"(She) climbed fences, took her clothes off and then hid in the woods for several hours before she was discovered by law enforcement,? Koch said.
