OKLAHOMA CITY -- A pilot was slightly injured Wednesday when he missed the runway and crashed while attempting to land his small plane.
The pilot suffered slight cuts and bruises in the accident at the Downtown Airpark near Southwest 17th Street and Western Avenue, according to authorities.
Eyewitness News 5's Tierney Cook reported that the plane fell into a nearby ravine after it careened off the runway path and flipped. The aircraft landed on its roof when it hit the base of the 30-foot deep ravine.Officials said the plane missed the runway by about 50 yards, but they do not know the cause of the accident.The pilot, who refused to be taken to a local hospital, is said to be recovering well. His name has not been released.Federal and state authorities are investigating the crash.
