OKLAHOMA CITY -- A potential thief was injured Thursday morning when he was shot by the man whose home he was attempting to burglarize. The incident happened at a home located near Northwest 12th Street and Portland Avenue.
Police said the homeowner, Brad Woolridge, shot Jason Wayne Wolf, 21, in the arm with a shotgun.According to police, Wolf ran out the back door of the home and got in a car with two other men.The men then left Wolf at a police training center near the home, where he received medical treatment.Wolf, whose prior criminal record shows only minor traffic violations from December 2002, faces a charge of first degree-burglary. He was recovering in a local hospital.Woolridge was in police custody Thursday on two unrelated warrants. He told police that he was simply defending his home when he shot Wolf. However, police were investigating further in an effort to verify Woolridge's claim. Officers took several bags of evidence from the scene Thursday afternoon.Woolridge told Eyewitness News 5's Rachel Kim that he had seen Wolf "one time" before.Police said Woolridge has not been charged because the case is still under investigation.
